Joint Permit Application

JDEC has filed a Joint Permit Application for Work Within the Louisiana Coastal Zone related to ongoing emergency work related to Hurricane Laura. Immediately following the Hurricane, and as necessary emergency response and repair activities, JDEC surveyed the damage to its electrical system and determined that catastrophic, irreparable damage had occurred throughout. As part of its large-scale emergency response plan, JDEC plans to engage in a thorough process of wrecking, removing, and disposing of transmission lines, distribution lines, and related assets. These necessary emergency response activities were/will be conducted in and out of the Coastal Zone and were/will be conducted in furtherance of JDEC’s mission and in the interest of public health, safety, and welfare. Emergency response and repair activities were/will, to the extent possible, be conducted and performed within existing Rights of Way (ROWs) on which the JDEC system normal operations and maintenance activities occur; utilize location appropriate equipment; and were/will be conducted in keeping with best practices to avoid or minimize impacts to the sites.
